PnP. Tight cork. Medium dark red. A bit stinky on the nose initially. Dark berries then come out but there still is a bit of off-aromas. On the palate this has lovely fruit and good velvety texture with a savory finish. Impressive at age 16 but on a downhill slope I think.

Slightly over the hill but delicious: lively aromatics for the first 20 minutes subside a bit, and then give way to a palate driven by umami notes (soy, Worcesershire, steak juices) mixing with residual traces of dark cherry. A delightful accompaniment to baharat-rubbed lamb chops... in no small part b/c the 2006'er who is the Reason for the Season (i.e., the girl who made us able to celebrate Mothers Day) was in attendance and tasting "her" wine.

Deep ruby red in color with ever-so-slight clearing at the edges. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, fresh strawberries & boysenberries with overtones of exotic spice notes of cloves & cinnamon & earthy/dusty notes, truffles, some cola notes, minerals, herbs & a touch of vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, plush with layers of ripe flavors of sweet dark cherries, strawberries & boysenberries with spices, cherry cola, minerals, mushrooms, some herbs, earthy & a touch of vanilla. Lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present & at 12 years of age & if cellared properly should hold for another year or two but I doubt any further development would occur with additional aging. An absolutely amazing & well aged Pinot.

Corked. (Had been husbanded for a birthyear night for the daughters. Sad face.)

Still the wine of the year! Suave and sexy and silky. Alas the last one.
