Even greater potential than I had earlier perceived, but also greater reticence. I have a couple of bottles left and won’t open them before 2024 at the earliest.

Less of a bouquet then I might have expected, but definite hits of tar is not roses. Still very tight on the pallet with smooth tannins and good acidity. At this point I still find it somewhat monolithicBut I hope that a few more years in the cellar will bring out more complexity. Probably worth stashing away until 2020 at the earliest.

Medium garnet color; Floral nose with anise and red fruit flavors. Moving along in its aging curve. We liked it and will space out the remaining bottles over the years. It is not too early to try this one just give it enough air time.

This was a beautiful Barolo out of magnum at Il Buco in NYC. Very silky, velvety texture with grippy tannins and rich fruit flavors of tar, dark cherries and tree bark along with a lovely minty/pine needle note. The finish is complex and satisfying but the wine actually closed up over time suggesting more bottle age is needed. Overall, a very impressive shoing for an '04 at this stage.

Lovely medium bodied traditional Barolo. Burgundian color and weight in the glass. Smokey, spicy, floral nose. Moderate tannin for Barolo. Best 2-3 hours after decanting. Favors of flint, cherry and a touch of mace. Nice minerality. Only flaw is a rather short aftertaste.
