  • my rating (tiff didn't like this as much - she said it had caramel palate, which we both don't like and see a bunch on overly oxidized white burg), i thought this was fantastic, it was dark yellow bordering on golden, great acidity still to balance the luscious rich pear pineapple etc tropical fruit flavors, also had a kind of pine tar / resin thing which was complementary... i don't drink a bunch of riesling but this was really quite good for $85 (purchased recently)... also i wish all other wines were 9.5% alcohol!)

  • Palate: Rich, a bit of age showing--not as fresh as the othersEarthy, soft, less acidity, nice earth tones.

Starts burnished bronze, but becomes deep gold-orange, and very refractive, with some tartrate crystals. The wine is young for type, with considerable young-style tastes and scents. The predominant scent is peach and gasoline. There is some caramel and cherry and some soupiness.

Vivid acidity and nearly BA sweet, although with more lissomeness. This wine will take several days after opening. to develop the style I've had in other bottles of this vintage. The wine is highly polished as to style and could have been aged ten to fifteen years more. I think this variation is due mainly to uneven cork quality. There is just a touch of heat on the end-palate.

  • Middle aged - primary sweetness remains but some cider and petrol notes emerging. Good body and vibrancy. Very nice.

  • With apologies to Lt. Col. Kilgore, I love the smell of petrol in the evening, and this wine delivered. Lots of smokiness, white flowers, green apples and minerals. Nice acidity to cut the honey. This is one incredible and young wine. Too bad it was my one and only. I would love to see how this evolves over the next 10 years.
