During a Domaine tasting, so only brief impressions. The nose is very gamey, Chambertin style with bacon, earth. Very good fruit, medium+ bodied palate, generous mouth feel, good tannins and freshness. A powerful yet aromatically very interesting and complex wine. Mature, drink up.

Make Bordeaux Great Again: The HDH Aubrey McClendon auction (Chicago, IL): The nose has a touch of brett and also shows some very ripe fruit. The palate is very dense, with a massive amount of iron and quite a bit of coffee-scented oak. Very heavy and broad-shouldered, this is a very large-scaled wine. Lots of umami here -- admittedly, while this is impressive in its stature, it's not quite to my taste; there's simply too much brown spice and coffee here.

Good expressive perfume on the nose, with good fruit extract apparent, carrying over into the palate, with good depth and freshness. Sappy, fresh, spiced, stylish. Very nice wine, showing plenty of energy. Can drink now or cellar for further development.

Clear deep red. Nice nose of black fruits and a little char. Good mouthful of sweet dark fruits again, bacon fat and spices. Surprisingly long for it's age. Perhaps a little on the late side to drink but still quite delicious.

HDH auction tasting at Tru (Chicago, IL): Only slight signs of bricking. Rustic and earthy nose, with some notes of stems, and some cough syrup and cherry notes as well. On the palate, this seems to have already started fading, with a lot of stewed red fruits and rust. Medium length finish, but marred by all the iron and rust.
