  • Very enjoyable. Age is clearly taking it’s grip, but this is fully mature rather than over the hill.

Medium garnet color, clearly showing age.

Medium+ intensity nose. The tertiary characteristics of rich balsamic vinegar hit first, followed by olives, rosemary, oak and still a little cherry.

Medium bodied, but full flavored with a lingering finish of balsamic. Acid is medium and the tannins have become very soft. Still quite a juicy wine, and while the balsamic flavor has become dominant it’s nicely integrated into the olive, fruit and herbs.

  • Light crimson in color with some bricking at the edge of the glass. 13.5% ABV. Fantastic nose of red fruits, menthol, wet asphalt and leather. Medium body with medium acidity. Well balanced with ample sweet fruits. Dried cherries, anise, tobacco and iron on the palate. Medium length on the finish. Awesome Cepparello that is absolutely delightful at twenty years of age. Best over the next several years.

  • Cellared since release. PnP. Double decanted. This is a gorgeous Sangiovese. Elegant and refined with tart cherry fruit. Fully mature, but showing very well. There is a tiny bit of Brett in this wine, but it doesn't detract from it. Way to go Paolo!

  • To me a very enjoyable fully mature wine -not tired or already downhill- but a wine which should be drank very soon.
Nose smelled of brett in way I can tolerate and enjoy, it screamed OLD WORLD... As to origin or grape variety I was baffled... The nose had similarities to Left Bank but the structure of the wine on the palate which was rather thin did not warrant Bordeaux. What then? A Loire Cab Franc?
Truth is that brett masked origin and variety...
Still it was a very enjoyable and quaffable wine, medium body, tannins resolved but still well balanced.
What can I say, I really liked it...

  • Last bottle from a half case acquired at auction in 2015. Level into neck, perfect cork. After a couple of bottles which were (much) less than satisfactory, this one is showing resaonably well. Structurally it is completely sound, fresh and retaining its tannic grip. It has lost most of its flesh and weight, but it has not become skeletal (yet). The fruit is all but gone, and cedary and vinous notes remain. Slightly metallic finish. Overall: completely mature, drink up.
