  • I have bought since 05, but think I have only opened 1 other bottle if any....bang on Rhone on the nose - it lacks a little length, but clearly well made and a solid example of the varietal and place. I was surprised that this really needs some time - don't touch for again for at least another 5 years.

  • Popped and poured over a couple of hours. Inky appereance. Nose of cherry, red prune, with animal notes and herbs & anise. Elegant on the palate, almost burgundian in fact. Hints of black pepper. Decent intensity of sweet black fruits, with good acidic backbone supplying freshness. Ripe tannins to balance the structure perfect. To me this wine is made for drinking now, on its youthful fruits. Don't over-estimate the wine because it is Clape. Drink and enjoy now! Very good. Oh, and btw this wine retails at +-8€ in France. I think it is the best 8€ wine I've had.

  • Opened two hours ago and just coming to life with fragrant raspberry and lemongrass aromas. The palate has berries and lemon with firm acid underneath. Distinctive vanilla flavor shows up in the finish.
At the four hour mark, this is coming into its own. The lemongrass aroma has been replaced by vanilla, and there are some nice licorice notes in the finish. I have a feeling that this would be even better on day two, but we'll never know.

  • Great nose straight off neck of plum and briary fruit, bacon fat, vinyl upholstery: on palate: skunky licorice and clean flannel like mouthfeel. What a wine for $20! Perhaps a bit thinner w a dropoff on the palate, less dense than a genuine Cornas, but hey...I didn't pay for the real deal either. Almost a floral component on the nose--nose really keeps me obsessed.

  • Wonderul Clape, fresh and alive with creamy raspberry/blueberry vanilla creme. Loads of sediment, but such a great fruity dark chocolate mouthful.
