On the nose it screams old bdx. Licorice, blood and Lots of tertiary aromas.
The taste is rounded. Still got mild smooth tannins, linear soft acidity – but there’s no doubting that this is over the Hill. Way over. Subtle red fruit and old leather.
A tired bottle that is just clinging on to dear life.
Time to drink up if you have any in the cellar.
Consumed as part of a 1992 tasting consisting of Ornellaia, Latour, Mouton and Sassicaia.
This bottle most definitely came in as the flop. Latour 3rd and in the top, way above, Mouton 2nd and Sassicaia 1st.

End-of-year dinner (Jubilee Garden, Safra Toa Payoh): Age is starting to catch up with this, but it was still very enjoyable on the night. It had a very attractive nose of plummy fruit and roasted capsicums lined with toasty oak, smoky spice and Italian herbs. The palate was where it really showed its mettle though. Soft yet firm, with silky tannins and fresh tomato acidity swirling through a core of bright red fruited notes seasoned with a nice bit of tobacco spice - this was such a delicious drink. Not the most complex, but wonderfully integrated and deliciously pure. A delight right now, but drink up - it is fast thinning out.

Der Charme der Vergänglichkeit! Subtile Liebstöckel-, Waldboden- und unterschwellige Beerenaromen von Brombeere, Weihnachtsgewürze und Zimt; nichtsdesto trotz fehlt es bereits spürbar an Frische; weiterhin weich, facettenreich und elegant am Gaumen, noch einigermaßen gute Länge; aber die Komponenten verflüchtigen sich langsam, gehört ausgetrunken!
