The palate has softened a bit and the tannins seem smoother than the last time I had this, but it all really came together so well that I can't imagine it being any better. Notes of spice, beef jerky, orange zest, clove, and blackberries. The palate was just so clean and smooth...absolutely a wine of grace and poise. Smooth as silk, but framed by bright acidity & tannins that have rounded out a bit with time. The finish on this wine is long, and lovely...but it's a wine that I could drink too fast...as it's just plain delicious as well. However, there is enough complexity and depth that this is a wine that also will demand your attention and deserves thought and contemplation. One of the best wines I've tasted all this year...near perfection if not already there.

  2009 Beaujolais Tasting (W/ Old Musar and more) (Portland, ME): Color: ruby
  Smell: Clove, spice, orange rind, blue & black fruit, flint, and lilac notes.
  Taste: A melange of bright red fruits, Kiwi, cinamon, minerals, and tangerine.
  Overall: At 11.5% it is food friendly, and easy to consume by myself...I should say that I am clearly biased with these wines as I'm friend's with the owner of the winery...but there are few wines that are as compelling to me as this or his Reserve Pear.
