Underrated wine and underrated winery. Although I'm not a huge love of all things Virginia wine, Barboursville seems to be able to age wine well under the right circumstances. This wine had aged elegantly leaving beautiful fruit and earth remaining. I think I bought the last of this wine and vintage but their other aged wines are equally impressive. Give the Octagon a shot. Some vintages are splendid.

Ate with pizza. Light, this finish with very little body. Pleasant enough with pizza, but would not stand up to anything bold. No nose.

Light ruby color with a subtle, light raspberry nose. Strawberry and red raspberry with a bit of tannin. Not very complex or interesting.
