  • Cranberry in color with cranberry, cherry, tar, earth on the nose and palate. Perhaps this is not a bright as the last bottle, but certainly nothing wrong with the wine. Excellent acidity that makes it a joy with the food. Good balance. Perhaps the body is not as full and round as I would like. Big chunks of sediment. Somewhat surprising. 13.5% alc. Roasted chicken breast with Hitching Post “magic dust” on it. It made for a very good pairing. The seasoning (that must include coriander) brought the chicken up to the wine. Recommended.

  • Friday, March 19, 2004 cherry, cola and cocoa. good acidity with integrated tannins. With cheeses and crusty bread. Really didn’t pay much attention to the wine at all.
Sunday, August 08, 2004 Black cherry and brown sugar on the nose. And that from Phoebe - and she’s absolutely correct! Some sweetness on the nose that is distinctly of brown sugar. Additional notes of earth and cocoa. Not a particularly deep wine, but a good one nonetheless. While it lacks the acidity of an Italian wine, the acidity carries the wine from attack to finish. It’s certainly not flabby like some California Sangios. Some sediment. 13.5% alc. A wine that probably is hitting its stride about now. With pepperoni, ham and bacon pizza.
Thursday, August 25, 2005 A color of dark, almost opaque, burgundy greets the eye. It gives an odd nose of dried flowers, sweet cherry, earth, chocolate and banana; very odd indeed. Straight forward flavors of cocoa, cherry, tar and earth present. Deep rich mouthfeel; good acidity, firm tannins. Nicely structured, if not entirely balanced. This wine is holding up nicely and should continue doing so for a few years more. With some sediment. 13.5% alc. Much too big a wine for the pasta with primadora sauce. Simply not a good match. Needs roasted chicken.
