  • At 11 years old, way beyond the recommended consumption by the winery of 3 to 4 years old at its peak. All I can say is the winery's position way underestimates the ability of this wine to age well, and this short an aging curve does not fit how the wine is made, which is closest to how top Chadonnays are made that peak in 10 to 12 years. This wine is barrel fermented in small French bariques, 30% new and the other 70% in once used French oak. After fermentation, it remains stored in its barrel for 4 to 5 months. This kind of exposure to oxygen in barrel largely inoculates the bottle against further oxidation by leaving little to chemically react with oxygen. Like most oaked white wines, this blend of Vernaccio, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc has a lemony fruit, lush texture, and full body, with accents of vanilla and tannin, that remains very enjoyable 11 years old.

  • Bought this out of a grocery cart closeout for $6 that was a hard sell to customers who had no idea what Italian whites are like. 10 years old and open for 5 days, the aromas began haunted by an oxidized vanilla and butterscotch. However, the sip was better with some refreshing acidity and tasty fruit. Encouraged not to give up on the wine, vigorous swirling in the glass blew off most of the oxidization, indicating that the foul smell was only in the dissolved gases, now replaced with a caressing texture. Overall, while the wine probably was better younger, it remains decently enjoyable.

  • Shows dark straw in glass (surely past its prime), and nose with some oxidation on opening. Pop and pours very tart and sour, but with some air and some warmth, actually offers up some very nice and complex flavors of melon, lime and sweet lemongrass. When properly aerated, finishes medium long and quite pleasant. Picked this up on a closeout, and now looking or a current release to enjoy. Drink 'em if you've got 'em, for sure.

  • Consumed over two days, note from day 2. Nose: Medium expressiveness, lemon custard pie, petrol, and earthiness. Palate: Medium bodied, nice balance, tart lemony flavor up front, tartness dominates the rest of the way. Finish: Short sense of tart citrus fruit.
