Medium to deep yellow-gold with aromas of baked apples, sweet yellow apples, and Williams pear that segue to dried pear, sultanas and cinnamon atop baked apple. The palate is surprisingly more linear than expected, with tingling fresh acidity that adds a racy and almost bracing quality. A wealth of fruit is restrained by its linear (at times lean) structure, with pear flesh, wet chalk, and porridge oats. Not that rich per se, the wine is balanced and whilst showing signs of maturity, is still holding up well, with ripe flavours held in check by the acidity.

Mildly, but noticeably premox...just about drinkable, but not much fun. Yellowish colour and the sort of taste that might be considered 'interesting' in vin jaune or orange wine, but has no place in Chablis. Perfect storage and bottle a few months ago was fine, so just a bad bottle...shame.

Hmmm... I had a bottle of the Les Clos from this producer last year - was either the 2008 or 2005, but either way it was beautiful, pure crystalline Chablis with a beguiling depth of flavour. This was very different in style - the note below from some years back puts it better than I can and is still accurate: 'plush, and ripe with fig, ripe melon and lemon oil aromas'. Maybe Grenouilles characteristics ? Not at all bad on it's on terms, but not really what I was expecting / hoping for.

In good shape, the fruit is intact, but maybe a bit mute. Feels like there is room for more development and expression.

Intensely fruity aromas with some minerals. Pure, velvety and vivid. Savoury and playful. Typical Michel style.
