  • Excellent wine! Well worth the eight year cellaring.
Big, dark and brooding but full of fruit and flavor.
Oak was well integrated and tannins were still firm but ripe.
Big on alcohol as well, it accompanies hearty dishes.
An exceptional wine suitable for a feast!
Can age further for at least five years.

  • dark impenetrable red in the glass this Montepulciano is thick and monolitic with hints of earth and licorice coupled with ripe red fruit and mature oak notes. Wonderfully evolved over the last three years (see my previous note) is now mature and round although still very deep and complex. Long life ahaed still. At R&P's with E&L for the "last supper" (polenta with cheese) before BTW

  • Dark, impenetrable colour, thick woodsy almost jammy wine. Still too young with too sharp tannins. Super-concentrated, strong material underneath, but all-in-all a eat-and-drink boosted wine that breaths earth but falls short in the aftertaste. Unbalanced acidity which needs some additional years in cellar. Disappointing if compared to expectations and price. Hard to get to the end of the bottle

  • mooi rijk glas, licht romig, mooie smaak, lekker mondgevoel, lekker zuurtje, makkelijk drinkbaar

  • dark purple impenetrable colour. nose is just Ok with dark berries and earth. The wine is very concentrated, nearly jammy - aromas of blueberry (mostly), violet and plum. wood noticeable but not overly intrusive. medium finish. the style is quite aggressive and bold for an italian wine (more like an australian one) but has some class. note I believe there is only one red villa gemma bottling despite multiple cellar tracker entries.
