The Triple Threat "165" Birthday Bash (65/60/40) (Minikahda Club, Mpls): Medium ruby red color with a 5mm transitional margin. Same bottle as Chablis28; decanted as noted for an hour. Drank a glass over 90 minutes plus. Flighted with the '09 Charmes Chambertin which was quite impressive, this was in a class by itself. This is one of those wines I just sit there and keep mumbling wow, wow....Truly, this is a wow wine, one of those benchmark wines that is so memorable for its sheer purity and glorious harmony. There is so much to say and yet the words really seem to pale in their description. The nose is flat out stunning in its remarkably aromatic perfume, immensely floral, dried roses, wet florest floor, black truffle, pretty red berries, orange zest, and blissful spices. It's one of those noses that carries you away with its lift and penetration. And this is a cases where the palate doesn't fall short of the nose - it is every bit as impressive and that says something. Tangy, lively, zesty and deep with layers of gorgeous red fruits that just scream the word purity at you. If you don't hear you it, you can just move on now - you're never going to get it. Brilliant and complex spice box and an incredibly silken texture and a finish that goes on forever. So graceful, so elegant, a sublime wine already and still so young. It is hard for me to really imagine that this can get better, but I'm willing to give it another shot down the road to see. Stunning. Thanks to Craig for sharing this with all of us. WOTN, 97+(+)pts.

Well you only turn 65 once and I'm delighted to arrive in good health and blessed with my wife of 41yrs, two wonderful adult children, an amazing son in law, and two even more amazing grand boys 3 & 6. Then you add in many dear friends making me one of the luckiest men in the world. So to further mark the occasion I decided to open my favorite Burg producer's iconic Chambertin tonight. A btl gifted to me 6yrs ago by my wine buddies. So I couldn't drink it all by myself. And yes, this will without a doubt be even more special with at least another 5yrs but Rousseau are thankfully special through their life cycle.
I double decanted for an hour at home before heading to the event with 10 of us. Semi translucent ruby red color. Terrific aromas of underbrush and berries. Such purity of fruit and freshness! Such refinement and weightless silky elegance. The palate is symphony of; red fruit, earth, mineral and forest floor. Everything about this wine shows the confident touch of a producer who lets her vineyard speak without manipulation. For anyone, who adores Burgundy and especially Gevrey Chambertin, this has to be a must bucket list wine. It certainly is one of mine. So thankful to my friends who honored me with this gifted btl and even more special to share it with such great folks. Lots of wows and laughs tonight! This was one of several wows.

Rousseau Dinner (WS New York): What can I say? I love Rousseau Chambertin. Every bottle I come across, it is really a question of how good not is it good. The 09 is fantastic. Very drinkable and just chock full of all the Rousseau greatness.

2021 New Year's Celebration Tasting (Private Cellar): PNP into Zalto Burgundy glass ("Fruit" day): Pale ruby to the eyes.
Red fruit driven, soy sauce like notes. Liquorice. Vosne Romanee like sweet spice notes.
Finely textured.
94-95 points. Reserved for observations.
Second round, more and more open indeed on palate.
Third round, nose started to open now, more cherry cola notes, but on palate still less generous.
Fourth round, on nose really opened up, good finish.

Superb wine great length. Got better and better and perfume fell over the sides of the glass. Strawberries and layers and layers
A great wine but what a price. You could fill an interesting cellar for the cost of one bottle.
