Quite dark red with pale rim, not much brick. Sweet perfume of damson, dark cherry and violets. Soft mouthfeel, fine acidity and fine tannins that still have plenty of grip. Nicely aged fruit character, plums and dark cherry, cherry stone zest, hints of earth and coffee grounds. Light to medium intensity, nicely structured especially for its age, with delicious flavours of mature burgundy. Drinking well but not fading particularly fast.

Mugneret-Gibourg Chambolle-Musigny les Feusselottes Dinner (The Bristol - Chicago IL): Served single blind in 93/96/99/01 flight. Floral with savory spice and slightly mature red cherry and berry. Great intensity and structure for its age, everything in harmony. I thought this was the 1999.

Dinner with Ed Zimmerman, Chris Thile, and Other Cool Folks (White Street Restaurant, NYC): From magnum. Austere, spicy, tart, complex, but not as appealing at the 2000 Ruchottes above.

Remmington Norman Offline in aid of Pebbles Project (Le Colombier, London): Very fragrant nose, light, ethereal, screams Chambolle. Some hints of caramel coming through. Silky albeit still with some grip. Nice length. Lovely wine.
