  • This pours medium ruby with light bricking toward the rim. The aromas are maturing, complex and appealing. Aromas are of sweet cedar, dark cherry, plum, cigar ash, green tobacco leaf, and charcoal. The palate is deep and rich with abundant dark fruit and tobacco tinged sweet cedar. The tannin is medium plus and the acid is medium. The finish lingers very nicely. Quite a wonderfully old world inspried wine here. Blind I’d guess Bordeaux or perhaps something from Portugal. Great wine! Almost 93.

  • Shows some maturity but is marred by a few obvious issues. Nose of light blackberry, unintegrated oak via vanilla and coconut and abundant alcohol (must be over 14% and it shows). Palate is hollow, lean on fruit and fairly astringent. Not exciting to me.

  • I have come to the conclusion that Burrowing Owl is an over hyped, winery, albeit, a stunning winery in Oliver, but the wines always come up a bit short. This was very soft and round. Tannins have pretty well disapated, big time pencil lead on the nose and taste, and for 9 years old still quite hot with alcohol. Decent but nothing really to write home about.

  • Medium purple, with bricking on the edges.
Nose of dark chocolate, smoke, currant, and some pomegranate.
Tannins are well resolved, good structure, but minimal fruit remain. Reaching the end of drinking window. Tasty, but drink up soon!

  • This bottle better than the last one. Soft tannins with berry fruit on nose, longer finish than the last bottle.
