Oh my! This was wonderful! I may have been a bit possessive with the bottle, guarding it from those that would not necessarily appreciate it.
Smooth, smoky velvet, long lingering finish. Robust berry and chocolate with herbal notes. Almost too good to finish the bottle, because then it would be gone!

i was pleasantly surprised with this one as I am not usually fan of Barossa Valley wines personally. Nice notes of chocolate, cream, cassis and even cinnamon on the nose and flavours of dark chocolate and what i can only describe as a rum taste (a bit sweet).. candy perhaps? Had a nice balance to it, perhaps as the acidity manages to balance the sweetness out.

Being Kaesler's prestige wine, The Old Bastard is certainly a nice acquaintance revealing a Christmas like nose and palate (!). Ginger bread, cinnamon and gillyflower permeate the appearance. Adding to this is a tone of crème brulée with roasted cane sugar. This of course does not sound like a "nice acquaintance" but it certainly is although my description might be a bit weird (found no other way to describe the wine properly though). However, I lack the balance normally found in The Old Bastard; the wine is almost sprawling. This probably has to do with the 2007 vintage or the wine being a bit too young.

pretty good wine. Probably wouldn't buy it again at that price.

Mocca, spice, herbs and and dark fruit on the nose. Dark chocolate, sweet dark fruit, artificial sweetener taste, tobacco.
