Garnet with an orange twinge in the glass, fairly opaque. Nose of leather up front followed with some air time by notes of berries and wet stones. Flavors of tart red berries followed by notes of cranberries. Medium to bright acidity, fully resolved tannins, medium body. Drink now.
This is the first 1962 I've drank that wasn't already maderized. This showed very similar to many 40-60 year old Barolo that I've tasted before. It is still good but it is a wine like so many other older wines I've tasted before. It isn't a wine to be rated, it is a wine to be experienced. Fortunately this evening it was experienced with a loved one as all wine truly should be.
Many thanks to Winetex for gifting this wine to PURPLE since it is a birth year wine for PURPLE. We enjoyed it this evening with or Veal Scallopini and Truffle Ravioli. Well done.
