Decanted for 1h at the Prime Rib. A luscious tannic beast, it needed the time in the decanter and perhaps would have benefited from more aging. I'm happy I opened it now however, the red fruit and tannins leant this a masculine character. Superb with prime rib and Brussel sprouts!

Clear ruby red, slightly lighter at the rim. A touch reserved on the nose, but showing some some fresh cherries & cinammon. Some balsam as it opened up a bit. Fuller bodied young Barolo. Tart, yet rich with a spicy mid palate (new oak?) with searing acidity & grainy tannins. Over the course of the evening, the initial red fruit yielded to some darker, more brooding elements and developed a more muscular quality. Not particularly polished, but an intense, delicious wine.

I am very positive about this Barolo, very strong tannins showing a lot of capabilities to drink it in 5 or more years , nose red fruits with impressive violet, very long , I would like to have it more

If you open it now drink it fairly soon after opening the bottle, because this will shut down hard after a few hours and barely open up again. Otherwise leave alone until about 2011-2012 before trying again.

Beautiful bouquet with autumn and earthy impressions. Red and black forest fruits. Firm tannin and a long and bit drying finish.
