Popped, breathed in bottle 4 hours, poured, consumed over next two hours. This seems to be squarely in its prime drinking window. Lovely balance, well integrated, complex, some tertiary development in the finely woven tapestry, with a lengthy, expanding finish. This has developed well and there is probably still more upside with further cellaring, but plenty drinkable now.

good dry cherry and earth; too much cedar for my taste and this detracted, but it integrated fairly well, and the tannins/acid are now well integrated; nice match with the truffle dinner at oliveto

Piaciuto il giusto, rimane sempre un po' sporchino, mi piacerebbe con i suoi toni terrosi e di radice e liquirizia, ma non decolla mai e rimane sempre sporco e sottotono

Tasted April 9, 2008. Opened and served immediately. Garnet color in the glass, slightly dusty looking. Aromas of caramel, licorice and black berries. Flavors of black berries and black cherries. Medium to bright acidity, medium to firm tannins, medium to full body. Drink or hold.

Italian Wines at Mi Piaci: Large Italian tasting. Minimal notes. Had alongside the 1998 Monvigliero. This had fresher cherry aromas than the Monvigliero, which was a bit funky.
