  • Hard to believe the great state this 37 year old Pommery is at. Its a blend of 51% Chardonnay and 49% PN, shows deep yellow colour with amber hue. Aroma of dried peaches and apples, chalk, stone, smoky hint. Palate is matured, bitterish and smoky filled with dried yellow and stone fruit notes, yeasty nuances. Feels vinous but still sparkling with extra fine delicate mousse along focused bright acidity. Lovely aperitif to a great evening with friends.

  • 1925 and some other oldies: Classic, golden colour of a mature Champagne, small bubbles. Less concentrated than Pommery '81 I had recently. Quite fresh and with proper balancing accidity. Rounder, with notes of coffee, overripe fruits, watermelon, with time it develops notes of dried apples, honey and rye bread. Long finish with a grapefruit tartiness. Not as complex than '81 but was WOTN for some.
