Hanging with psmith has its advantages, the guy is crazy with old champagnes. This was good. We have had some duds from the late 40's, but this one was holding together. Very minimal vibrance and mousse, almost a still wine. But had a great old Madeira and honey tones that made it enjoyable. Drinking a whole bottle would be a challenge, but a glass or two was fun

Dinner with the Lees and Zimmers (Columbus, OH): Light golden color with some apparent mousse left. Caramel overtones and texture, and quite an impression of sweetness to the palate before turning a bit Madeira-like on the finish. A bit heavy. Probably never a great wine, but OK.
