Rather underwhelming. Blackberry and heat on the nose. Full bodied, dark fruited attack, hints at overripe fruit. Mildly astringent tannin and heat on the finish. Lacks the feral edge I'm looking for in Mourvedre, and drinks more like an average Zin. Bottle variation aside, I can only see this being more dominated by alcohol and tannin with further age.

Better the second day. Less fruit-forward. Chocolate, tar, tobeaacco notes with black cherries and plums.

Weygandt Selections - Annual Portfolio Tasting (Astor Place - New York, NY): Very dark wine with cedar, plum, blackberry and charcoal. Tannins are still firmly in place, but this should shape up to be a nice Fontaneou with some patience.

Notes of coffee and cassis rule the nose. Palate has big black fruit with distinct raspberries folded in. Not as elegant as the Estagnol.
