2016 Wine & Food Society of La Jolla Holiday Gala (The Lodge at Torrey Pines, La Jolla, CA): This medium red/garnet Pinot offers aromas of black raspberries, clove, anise and earth. Medium-bodied, fresh, seamlessly alcoholic and with soft residual tannins, it delivers flavors mirroring the nose and stays solid in the middle. Unfortunately, the wine becomes progressively more tart and closes with a medium-length, acerbic finish. While enjoyable, there is a lack of charm here. Further cellaring will not be helpful. Drink now-2019.

Clear medium garnet color. Pleasant notes of tart red fruit, potpourri, black tea. One taster commented on some fennel or green bell pepper that reminded him of a cabernet franc. Excellent wine.

Low QPR but decent wine. On the nose lots of raisins, white pepper and some raw meat. Quite one dimensional. Slightly sticky caramel notes.

Pretty straightforward. Nice acidity but balanced with a decent level of red fruit. Maybe a tiny bit thin but liked this.
