  • Red fruit, mainly cherries, saline notes and some cassis. Good density and length for the vintage. Have been at the domaine last week and Ghislaine told me, that her 2008 are now getting ready for drinking. This is in line what I recognized with the 2008 of Gouges.

  • Tasted in a Fuees “study,” if you could call it that. 03 Mugnier and 05 / 07 / 08 / 09 Barthod.

Upon a night’s drunken slumber and reflection, I am kind of ambivalent about this wine. I think I was probably the only one of the group who enjoyed it upon opening, but it didn’t do much to improve itself over the course of the tasting.

Much more concentration than expected. Really nice and spicy nose with a good amount of fruit still left. Quite green and a little disjointed on the palate, with a pretty clipped finish.

    Better than the 05. 87 / 100.

  • Fuees Dinner (DJCV as host) (Brooklyn, NY): Darker fruits here. More concentrated. Sort of in a weird and not particularly delicious spot. Would not necessarily call it disjoined, but rather closed / muted on both palate and aromatically.

  • This is really excellent and shows the good part of the vintage. The acid is there but it’s totally in check, it makes the dark red and black fruit vibrant and sharp, with wonderful flavors of wild red currants and red and black cherries, and all kinds of mineral, earth, and spice perceptions. The wine wants to leap out of the glass, it’s airy, floating almost, but sharp and focused. I really enjoyed it with venison backstrap, and a blackberry bordelaise sauce!

  • The nose seem faulty. Must be bottle variation. Spices, oak and toast. No fruit nose. Palate is fine. Medium+ acidity and tannin.
