Had this at Antrim 1844 in Taneytown, MD. Great stuff, about as good as it get for Pinot. Although its in a great spot right now, there is still lots of life ahead for this one. I was impressed how much fruit was still present.

2021 Jadotfest (La Trompette, London): Darkest ruby. Dense. A densely savoury barnyard. Really bright and vibrant, slightly lifted blue fruit. A sense of the exotic with a lick of acidity on the finish to keep things in check. Evolves quite a lot in the glass, losing its joke de giver, and then recovering to a more classical frame. Extra density over the Gevrey 1er flight, but not quite the pizazz for immediate pleasure. ****

A very good, if somewhat four square, mature red Burgundy. Good amounts of spice in the fruit that seems somewhat held back by the grippy 1996 structure. Solid but not as special as the 96 Gagey bottling.

Monday Night Football and Grand Cru (Chicago, IL): This probably wasn't the best showing of this wine; the bottle today seemed thin and acidic (so more in line with typical 1996s instead of the Jadot exception). The fruit here is tart, and while it sweetens up on the midpalate, it doesn't build up to something enough to counterweight all the acids on the back end, whereupon this wine seems to collapse in on itself. There are nice mature Burgundy flavours here, but I wanted more.

Lovely red fruits. Good drive and energy. Drying finish but not too offputting. Love the bright attack but cut off on mid palate/finish.
