Decanted a third of the bottle and left the rest in the fridge. Egg whites apparent but it opened quickly. Bright sparkling red. Mineral and granite stone acidity with raspberry cherry fruit and hints of banana. Vegetal wood notes remind you of succulent green stalks. Evolves into some medicinal herb like parsley or chive. The mouth is reserved fruit with gravelly acidity, powdery tannins that line the insides of your lips and longer, ending in those stalky notes with fruit supporting in the background.

A savory nose and wine. Very ripe red and black berry nose, with wet leaves strongly evident, and raw red meat nuances. A medium, slightly on the light body with a savory flavor of earthy strawberry, but not sweet. Long finish, balanced, food friendly acidity. Great with roasted chicken.

A Nelson pinot noir that rivals any from central Otago. Great nose, very expressive and a beautiful berry palate with a long finish Paired beautifully with a succulent veal chop. A wonderful New Zealand pinot noir. I purchased the wine from the Neudorf winery in 2010, and opened up the first bottle in 3-2012. At that time, it was not well integrated - rough around the edges. Now (9-2014) it is drinking beautifully but still could last for another year or so, but why wait.
