Fantastic acidity and focus for a 2009; in no way moribund. Big, but also with great cut. Rich chardonnay fruit, mineral, floral touches. Really compelling stuff.

This was the best Sauzet I've had in years, balanced and regal. Easy drinking, a magnum went quickly. I'd almost given up on this producer, but will consider this performance a "stay of execution."

Much fatter on the mid palate (than the Girardin) more oil, more rich viscosity, more power but ultimately, for me, not to my taste. And very short on the finish. We shall see.

At the house when I first opened the bottle I was sure it was fine and classical, if a bit light. But at the restaurant a couple of hours later, it had crawled into its shell and was rather dull for a Sauzet grand Cru from a vintage that is always ready. Drinkable to be sure, but unexciting.
