Garnet. Nice aromas of ripe cherry, leather, spices, iron and a lot of minerality. Medium body, it seems a young wine, with acidity and tannins still noticeable. Ripe fruit on the palate and a medium finish. Difficult to believe, for the vintage, but this stuff need patience yet.

A wine that's totally transcended its fruit to enter the rocky side of Nebbiolo. While the mouthfeel is relatively soft, the flavors and aromas offer a spectrum of rock and mineral flavors ranging from the fairly ordinary (graphite and iron) to others digging deep into the earth, including vivid impressions of volcanic rock that make the wine in the bottle, which is still really a baby, feel almost ancient. (At Ristorante Villa Crespi, Orta San Giulio.)
