A little light but a decent sipper. Medium red in color with a hint of orange at the rim. Raspberry, pepper and tobacco on the palate. Medium bodied with a brief peppery finish.

A big wine with immediate aromatic appeal, the Travaglini Gattinara Riserva 2012 is open and lush but also a bit primal and rustic, with alcohol occasionally showing its traces. That said, this has great Nebbiolo characteristics, with leather, spice, mint, licorice and dried cherries pushing through both the aroma and flavor. It has a firm acid backbone, a big tannic profile, and is definitely a food wine. As mentioned, its aromatic qualities were immediately evident, and It opened up completely after a one hour decant. Long finish redolent of macerated cherries / cherry liqueur. Excellent QPR.

Ok ish. Some time it hints at what it might be in 10 years when its nore harmonious with like an orange tree bark tobacco mix but for now that's all a bit surface level.

A little past its prime. Very tannic and light in color.
