  • A blend of Roussanne (80%), Chardonnay (10%) and Marsanne (10%), aged in demi-muids. 13,5% alcohol.

Luminous, medium-deep golden yellow color. Sweet, complex and very nuanced nose with an overhanging veil of something wild and vaguely lambic-y, followed by rich and developed aromas of hay, browned butter, some ripe peach, a little bit of baked apple and hints of wizened yellow fruits. The wine is oily, full-bodied and quite developed on the palate with pronounced nuttiness and dry, yet very rich and complex flavors of crème brûlée, some almond paste, a little bit of pineapple and hints of mangoes and honeydew melon. The mouthfeel is very smooth and silky, yet the wine feels pretty balanced and harmonious with its moderate acidity. The finish is rich, complex and very long with developed, layered flavors of honeydew melon, lemon marmalade, sun-baked stones, some peanut butter and hints of crème brûlee and roasted chestnuts.

A big and somewhat heavy, but also incredibly complex, nuanced and attractive white which has almost massive feel, yet it doesn't come across as excessively big nor fat or flabby. This wine might have been quite oaky when it was younger, but now the oaky tones have developed into more toasty and nutty developed tones that intermingle with the mature fruit so perfectly. Most likely this is on its plateau of maturity right not and has been there for some while. I can imagine the wine keeping good for many more years to come, but it isn't in need of any further cellaring. Very lovely and really impressive; I enjoyed this much more than a great majority of Grange des Pères reds I've had. Highly recommended.1

  • A wonderful wine with complexity and balance. Very much like a white Chateauneuf du Pape. Drink soon.

  • Dark gold. Intense sweet oakiness, smoke, butter, peach, honeysuckle and roast almonds. Full-bodied, dense and buttery with very rich fruit, balancing acidity and a long finish. Still showing extremely well.

  • Very nice, Rhone style oaky and fat white wine with aromas of sweet quince, peach, floral nuances and a hint of oxidative ageing which added to the complexity. Texture was rounded and finish long. Delectable wine.

(Domaine de la Grange des Pères Vin de Pays de l'Hérault Blanc) Gorgeous nose of ripe Chardonnay and honeysuckle (after a half hour in glass, candlewax and yeast comes through too); big, rich but balanced, honeyed at the edges with the Viognier peeking through, medium finish 92 pts.
