Bottle 180951 We recently purchased this directly from the Vineyard’s library stock. The bottle had already been recorked once by Barbi.
Appearance: bright, rust red-orange in color, with a burnt orange rim; fairly even, medium legs which tended to run together in a sheet-like fashion.
Nose: cinnamon, anise, dark berry jam, bell pepper, wood fired meat, black pepper, bakers cocoa, graphite notes, and a faint hint of leather.
Palate: bright cherry still remains, despite this wine’s age; leather, earth, a hint of pepper, dark berries, dark chocolate, and faint floral notes.
Comments: extremely smooth with velvety tannins and balanced acidity, and very complex overall. All flavors are well integrated at this point. Although there is indeed tertiary aromas and flavors present, the strong cherry and berry characteristics that remain fruit-forward suggest this bottle could continue to develop well for another 10 years, if not longer. A fantastic Brunello!

I’m always hesitant to buy older wines because it’s hard to know where the bottle has sat and I have experienced only about a 50% success rate in purchasing wines greater than 10 years after their release date. That being said, I was very happy with this bottle despite the brittle cork that crumbled and had me gasping but do believe it’s on it’s top side of evolution and should be consumed now. The color shows the brownish hue of a well-aged Brunello. It was smooth, and still had a nice tartness to the finish. Sour cherries and a nice floral scent. Frankly much preferred the 2010 Brunello after it, but was very happy with its flavor and it did compliment the steak-tips nicely. If you have it; open it up. It was ready after being filtered through the Venturi (with a screen) and decanted for about an hour.

Chocolate, dark plums and a beautiful nose. The wine still has character with subdued but present tannins and a good acidity. Great. Spot on with the house made lasagne. Unfortunately my last bottle. Still some riserva’s in stock.

Decanted for 3 hours, still showing quiet young. Served Blind along side the '76. Revisit in 5+ years
