Cafe Carducci (Cafe Carducci, Verona): Light mahogany colour, the wine has a captivating bouquet of leather and tar penetrating the nose. Super intense, with depth on the palate, resolved tannins and a fairly rich mid-palate. A lasting impression on the finish, there is a nervy thread of acidity and despite its age the wine shows its ethereal and delicate nature, defying my expectations of a bold and powerful wine.

This is the oldest Brunello I have had the joy to taste. It is probably past its prime by a few years, but it was just a great experience to have a 30 year old Brunello. There was still nice fruit, although the barrel leather and earth was bit dominant. The fruit seemed to have moved from bright cherries to a more dried apple tone. All in all, I was glad to find this bottle and the tasting experience was worth the price of admission.

Cork crumbled but nose and colour immediatly told me that this would be Ok. Sweet black cherry, licorice, mint - outstanding trade-off between black fruit and a mature wine feeling. Wow.

30 years old at a good price and delicious. Still great structure. Well integrated fruit and earth, with earth forward. Tastes Italian.
