Tasted by Sklarano on 10/14/2015 & rated 91 points: Silky bold Napa Cabernet with a nice smooth finish. Tobacco, blueberry and spicy notes on the nose. Enjoyed with a hearty dinner. Nice wine at its prime. Very nice wine indeed.

Tasted by efeldhake@yahoo.com on 6/6/2015 & rated 89 points: Deep garnet with purple hue in color. Nose of crushed blackberries. Taste of blueberries, strawberries, and tobacco. Nice acidity. No tannins. Nice mouth-feel. Very food friendly. At peak. Drank from double magnum. (3933 views)
Tasted by Flamemark on 7/16/2013 & rated 91 points: Opened up with air. Smooth. (6289 views)
Tasted by mach8196 on 6/4/2013: It was a bit beyond its time. (6212 views)
Tasted by NoWineWiz on 2/20/2013 & rated 90 points: Nice nose of blueberries, raspberries and mild spice. The palate shows black & blueberries, plum, mocha and soft tannins. (5541 views)
Tasted by lifeattable on 2/17/2013 & rated 88 points: Nice wine. Much lighter than one would expect from a Napa Cab-based wine, but elegant and food-friendly. Complex but subtle in both aroma and flavor, featuring warm spice, loam and dark berries. I even got a touch of mint. Great acidity makes this very food friendly. (Try roasted whole chicken.) Absolutely no reason to hold this any longer - I actually found it in my cellar today when looking for something else. Didn't even know I had it! (3841 views)
Tasted by PaulStough on 4/28/2012: delicious (4611 views)
Tasted by NoWineWiz on 12/31/2011 & rated 89 points: Decanted 1 hour. Nice fruit on the nose. Medium body with raspberry, plum and rhubarb palatte. (3012 views)
Tasted by whits on 9/4/2011 & rated 91 points: beautiful pine forest, menthol and smashed raspberry aromas, very soft now, smooth on the attack and then explodes with natural berry, tea, cherry, mint and rhubarb flavors, bright finish, good acid, I would say this is near the end of the peak drinking window, a high quality blend showing Napa fruit without extracting it, excellent (3363 views)
Tasted by Laughs and Juice on 8/22/2011 & rated 93 points: I'm surprised at the comments about this being past prime. Plenty of fruit coming through over tobacco and black tea. (3164 views)
Tasted by Dano13xx on 8/15/2011 & rated 90 points: Probably should have drank this sooner but it was amazing. Long mulling spice finish. Bright berry notes. Soft lush mouthfeel. Certainly a treat! (3183 views)
Tasted by benkearney on 2/11/2011 & rated 91 points: Super Smooth, Elegant Wine. Like taking a convertible ride through a deep forest. Rhubarb, earth, nutmeg. Fruit is missing just a hair, but a great example of aged California. Drink now. (3388 views)
Tasted by Mcgoodnight on 12/13/2010 & rated 87 points: Not as good as I remember, though still pretty tasty. Unless the next one is better I'm thinking I waited too long to drink it or it wasn't as good as I thought it was to begin with. (3929 views)
Tasted by brouigu1 on 7/28/2010 & rated 88 points: The nose is still well developed, the fruit and earth smell is the typical Meritage. The wine is just past midnight, still good but heading down. Enjoyed with Pizza and it was a nice combination. Medium body and still a soft mouth feel but the fruit is degrading. (4296 views)
Tasted by monk8miles on 4/18/2010 & rated 89 points: This is really at its best now. The tannis and fruit are nicely balanced. Rich fruit flavopr up front cherry, curren and a little herbal mint. Mid palat is a little flat, but the finish and tannins on the back are very nice. Not a tremndously long finish but very elegant. Very food frendly wine we had it with a beef tenderloin stuffed with port and dried cherries reduction with stilton butter sauce. (4766 views)
Tasted by CobraKahn on 6/20/2009 & rated 90 points: Rich, deep, fruity and delicious. (5046 views)
Tasted by Tim Heaton on 4/7/2009: Easy drinking with a medium + body and a dark ruby core. This might benefit from some more bottle age, but I kind of doubt it - it's drinking just fine right now, so you don' t need to wait. A satisfying mix of red and black fruits, creme de cassis, vanilla and red flowers. Decant this (has sediment) for at least 30 minutes and enjoy! 14.2% abv, ~ $44, drink thru 2013. (5308 views)
Tasted by Jump29 on 2/13/2009 & rated 83 points: A bit weak with my Ribeye at the Los Altos Grill but should have known that. (5301 views)
Tasted by Mcgoodnight on 12/3/2008 & rated 95 points: Best wine I have had yet. Ever. Immediately smooth, full fruit, rich, mild and smooth finish. Excellent. (4041 views)
Tasted by saleswiz on 9/1/2008 & rated 89 points: Very good balance, decanted but probably didn't need it. First time trying the trilogy, can't tell much of a difference from the cab. Flora is always consistent however this isn't worth $50+ per bottle. Many other choices in this price range... (5497 views)
Tasted by lkatz on 8/17/2008 & rated 90 points: drinking very well (5449 views)
Tasted by blackmistressdiva on 8/5/2008 & rated 90 points: Lots of fruit, depth and character to the 03 Trilogy. A great bottle of wine. (5403 views)
Tasted by wineshaman on 5/11/2008 & rated 88 points: Smoke, alcohol and plums on the nose, followed by rich dark fruit on the palate, somewhat acidic finish that was not pleasant and took away from my enjoyment. Reminded me of a wine from Margaux. (5853 views)
Tasted by odu83 on 5/11/2008 & rated 89 points: Fruit forward with dark stone fruit nuances. A nice prelude to the dessert course after a standing rib veal roast. (6457 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
