Light, muted nose. A bit closed. Not showing much today.

Cassis, and dark cherry aromas. Spicy and cola-like. Deeply concentrated wine, that still holds onto it's pinot character.

Light to no nose. A simple bistro wine. A wine for simple, hearty food.

Killer sweet cherry nose. Some dusty earth and spice. Almost a cherry liquor kind of intensity, yet a fairly light color. Wonderful finish. A bit hot, but not too overbearingly so.

Soft, round, and packed with nice cherry fruit. Framed with lovely RRV spice. Good extraction, but not overdone. Lovely.

Low acid, round wine. Pleasant "drink me now" kind of wine, but nothing out of the ordinary here.

Tomato and sage. Some red fruits, but a little herbal. Nice, but not my style.

Dark purple. A wine that underwent heavy saignee. Unusually purple for a pinot noir. Roasted plumbs, and other dark fruits. This is more like a Syrah. Perhaps a bit over-done.

Nice nose of freshly plowed earth. Some dark fruits, but a bit of a metallic finish that detracted.

High acid, tart cherry. Simple, and a bit harsh cranberry flavors. Not all that pleasant.

High acid, metal filings, steely and somewhat lean. Not all that pleasant. A little short. Perhaps this needs time.

1994 Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Rangen de Thann Clos St. Urbain 92 Points
France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru
Apricots, and other tropical fruits, but great acidity. Nice minerality on the finish. Seems to need a bit of time for the acids to mellow and the complexity emerge.

1995 Didier Dagueneau Silex 90 Points
France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Pouilly-Fumé
High in mineral, but the acids in the wine was the dominant feature. Mouthwatering in intensity, but too much at this time. Cellar this baby.

Honey, intense, caramel, sweet minerals. Quite nice.

1988 Hugel Gewurztraminer Jubilee 89 Points

Sulfuric at first (rotten eggs?), but it blew off rather rapidly. Ended up being a very nicely balanced, slightly spicey wine, with enough acids for further aging.

Honey, floral, ginger. Nicely balanced wine that is holding up quite nicely.
