Wow, I figured this would be way past drinking date and while the cork did explode on me, after filtering and aerating about 5 times and after one hour decanting, turned out a pleasant surprise. A little acidic and sour on mid but fades enough on finish.

I opened this wine for the first time in many years and was surprised at how badly it degraded. It was undrinkable. After leaving it on the counter and moving on to the 96, I came back to the 95 and was now surprised at how much it smoothened out. Very light style, this is no huge extracted Pinot. Cherry with clear green elements on the nose, a brambly twiggy sort of character. Modestly high acid and a sour mouth feel. Short light finish. This wine is done.

This was a fantastic wine. It opened with sour cherry fruit but we left it for over an hour and it picked up more complexity adding notes of chocolate and expresso. This was a wine to savor after finishing our roast duck. The balance was right on contributing to a mouth coating long lasting finish. This could easily go another 5 to 10 years in the cellar. It is light, not CA style.
