France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Impressive wine. Super lemon, honey, tropical fruit. Nice acidity coupled with fatty baking spice. Cinnamon lends a richness in spice to the palate. A big boy with great polish. Lovely.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Stunning complex nose. Rich dark spice. Funky earthy, showing a touch of age. Pungent sulfuric aroma of Gevrey gave this away for me. Palate is still really young and backwards. High acidity. Palate is a bit leaner than I'd like to see, and the finish dies off a touch, but as a whole it's still really nice.
Big berry driven wine showing massive extraction and legendary finesse driven leather, graphite and cigar box. Behemoth of a nose. Lots of licorice with some enjoyable aromatic spicy heat. Big firm young tannins. Exotic, delicate and feminine overall. Flowers. Great length on the finish. Awesome wine. So much structure and backbone but tasting so damn good right now.
Super blue stinky cheese funk. Oxidized extreme funk. Smells big and pungent. Shroomy, cherry, raspberry pie. The palate shows more minerality with muted fruit. Finish is a little rough around the edges. Tremendous nose but the palate shows less expression. Big grip. Black tea, tannins, still good acidity. Touches of dirty barnyard and radish. Solid.
Olive, kale and other green vegetation. Some savory salty elements, anise, mocha. Volcanic rock, graphite and pencil. Quite nice. Good structure and tannin integration. Still holding together nicely. Go Canada!!
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
Soft dusty cherry, delicate with a touch of VA. Licorice, menthol, pine needle, plum with some oak and vanilla. Palate has more rose petal notes and lighter cherry. High acidity. Good mid palate. Drinking well. Comfortable in its shoes.
Peppermint, meaty, deli smoke, cured fat, beaten eggs, liqueur, raisinated, licorice. A little sulfur. huge fruit. Palate shows juicy young earth and forest floor. Chocolate, chalky. Some tannins but not too firm. A little porty. A couple guessed this was Clarendon Hills Grenache.
Crayon waxy aromatics. Really young seeming - still! Lots of oak . Kinda screams Napa Cabernet on the nose. Fruit driven. Plummy. Cassis. Good structure. Soft elegant mouth feel. Really nice.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Funky, loamy, spice, baking goods. Cherry, pungent, heady stone and shroom. Palate is awesome. Loved this guy just before I bounced. Juicy jammy. Pungent. Super delicious.
