Cities restaurant - Washington D.C.

Our fellow DCWINO, Trip and his lovely wife Leah have decided to move down to Chapel hill, near their alma mater. We are really sad to see them go as Trip has been the great organizer in many of our wine dinners. The dinner was held at Cities, our fellow single DCWINO Doug Damron’s playground.
The dinner was surreal and psychedelic as the place was dark, acid jazz a bit too loud as we were right behind the DJ booth, wines were flowing fast and furious and the food almost inedible. The fried shrimp wontons was soggy and tasteless, the crab cakes made with blue crab leg meat and the fillets so leathery almost all of us had to return. However being able to sit out after the dinner and smoke nice cigars while looking at attractive young ladies silhouette made up for the terrible meal. At the end, it was one of the most fun wine dinners I had in awhile.
I have not taken any TNs so this is my extremely brief impression. Most reds were served in mag, other than a few two fifth.
It was a wonderful night!
2004 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru
Not bad, not showing green, not much precision and certainly disappointing for a Les Clos especailly compare to the 08 drank next.

2008 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 96 Points
France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru
As Barry P said the 08 Chablis are very special. What a wonderful showing! Very precise, mineral and expressive. Not unlike the Dauvissat Les Clos.

2006 Kongsgaard Chardonnay The Judge 93 Points
USA, California, Napa Valley
More restraint than the regular bottling, served a bit too warm but no hint of heat, excellent bottle and if served correctly 96 pointer.

2001 Sine Qua Non Roussanne Rien Ne Va Plus 91 Points
USA, California
Nice nose, ripe fruit but showing a lot of heat. The rating will vary a lot depend on the tasters heat tolerance level.

NV Krug Champagne Brut Grande Cuvée 95 Points
France, Champagne
Always so consistent. It appears to be relatively new bottling. Fresh, nice mousse, some yeast, complex granny smith apple note.
