Solid Puligny, drinking well, apple and candied lemon, fresh and clean but not extremely precise, hint of wood, develops a note of grapefuit; good length. Now-2015.

A wine of poise, elegance and breed; intense yet elegant, powerful but light on its feet; excellent length.

Bigger and spicier than the Pucelles 2007 and slightly earthier too but in spite of the considerable weight (the vines are in Chassagne) this is basically a racy Bâtard with excellent balance and length. Should age well.

Quite powerful and extracted, black cherries, tannic and masculine style but with the required stuffing to back up the extraction, good length, slightly farmyardy. Not terribly charming but very competent.

Light, crisp Cabernet, leafy and tea-like, clearly picked early or with high yields, on the dry side and quite tannic, but its privileged Margaux terroir also provides a floral topnote and a certain feminine elegance.

Strikingly youthful appearance; very aromatic nose of blackcurrants and earth, good depth but not very complex; on the palate slender but energetic, clearly Cabernet-dominated, sturdy but not without some Margaux charm; good length.

Ripe, crushed fruit, charming and well-rounded but with good tannic grip, good depth on the nose, slightly farmyardy; the slight lack of weight on the palate is compensated for by not inconsiderable charm; good length. One of the favourites tonight.

Glossy, relatively modern, well-mannered, lead pencil minerality, violets, medium weight, the oak is a bit on the dry side, slightly figgy flavours, good length.

Wonderfully fragrant and charming, peppery Cabernet Franc, ripe fruit of crushed red berries, beautifully balanced, effortless elegance, no lack of weight or structure, lovely length. A very pretty wine.

Outstanding Giscours, probably the best since the 1975 or even the 1970. In a beautiful place right now, excellent energy and typicity, ripe fruit, velvety texture, very good length.

Lovely golden colour; honey, tropical fruit, hint of vanilla, fresh and with good depth, harmonious; refreshing and elegant style, medium sweet, energetic; very good length.

Rich, golden colour with an orange tinge; quite big and rich but there is no lack of energy or freshness, the flavours have a caramelly touch; excellent length.

Very youthful appearance; blackberry liqueur and fresh figs, very primary; rich, sweet and impressive but far too young really. This will be great but patience is required; I would suggest a drinking window of 2020-2050+.

Identical to my previous note. This is such a delicious wine. Delicate, gentle, fragrant, ethereal even and wonderfully fresh and lively, medium-dry; quite amazing quality and condition for a 1975.

2001 Reichsrat Von Buhl Spätburgunder Sekt Brut 90 Points
Germany, Pfalz
Youthful appearance, gentle mousse; lovely, delicate Pinot flavours; smooth and rounded, nice weight, mouthfilling, seamless, flavours of red apple and cherry; lovely length. Has lost quite a lot of weight and exuberance in the last three years and is now a fully mature and still perfectly fresh wine.
