Strawberry pink. Very bready and yeasty on the nose, as well as some baked apple notes. Perhaps, if you try, a bit of strawberry comes out, but that might just be me knowing that this is a rose. Very, very spritzy, with a coarse mousse. The palate is dominated by very tart red fruits (sour pie cherries and cranberries), and the acidity here is completely overpowering. You'll need a new coat of enamel for your teeth. Perhaps this is too young and high-toned at the moment, I suspect this will get much better with some bottle age.
Slightly green in colour. Relatively sulphury on the nose, in the context of other Donnhoff wines I've had. On the palate, this is very pleasant and easy-going, with a nice balance of green apple and sweetness. Developing a few secondary notes at this point.
A slightly higher toned nose than the '99 tasted alongside. Some pineapple notes. The palate still has a very light touch -- this is very minerally and fresh, but seems a little heavier, with just a touch more oak showing.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Fourrier nailed it. A delicious, if slightly bordelais nose of brown spice, coffee, and soy. Somewhat austere on the palate, and definitely not a heavy-hitter by any means, though this is quite savory. Lots of acidity and very silky in texture. No hint of green to be found anywhere (and I was looking!).
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Iron and earth on the nose, balanced by some sweet brown spice. Very mineral on the palate and elegant. Lithe and feminine, this is a really pretty Clos de la Roche, and drinking so well now, with lots of fruit showing through.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Much riper than the '02 I tasted alongside. A whole ton of red and black fruit, but still great balance from a firm acidic backbone, although the '99 is a bit lighter on the minerality. Very nice silky tannins.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru
Bottle 11604. Very ripe nose, and definitely telltale of the vintage; perhaps a little sickly sweet with some brown spice notes. The palate is obviously quite ripe as well, with low acidity, but the brilliance is that this never gets cloying. Earthy tones, stem notes, and some relatively hard tannins help balance everything out.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
Dirty, dirty. Very Leroy: lots of barnyard, earthy funk initially, though after a few hours in glass, the nose became dominated by very lovely black fruit. On the palate, this is a beast of a wine and very monolithic. This needs much more time to soften up. Immense acidity.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Painfully young. Reminds me a lot of the '05 Vogue Bonnes Mares with a strong iron component. Like the old cliche though, this is iron draped in velvet. Slightly peppery on the palate, and tons of iron notes, but there are hidden flavours of black fruits waiting to come out. Extremely young, but plenty of potential to become even better.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
Very classic Burgundian nose: stemmy, dirty, and slightly filthy, but notes of black cherry and vanilla behind it all. Moderate oak, and a drying palate that doesn't say much to me.

2000 François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre 93 Points
France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
Lemony floral nose with notes of white peaches. A slight cheesy funk on the palate that dissipates pretty quickly. Very delicate and pretty.
