Flight 1 (7 Notes)

  • 2008 Domaine de Montille Volnay 1er Cru Taillepieds 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru

For me it was a surprise QPR, nose and taste. Drank well along a very competitive line of PN's at Berserkers offline. Potential PN of the evening. It has years ahead and layers to explore. Great choice (detailed TN to follow)

  • 2007 Bodega Chacra Pinot Noir Cincuenta y Cinco 92 Points

    Argentina, Patagonia

Share with Berserkers at PDH offline. It was a solid #2 PN of the night against a respected line of PN's. Pleaseant surprise and improved since previously tasted! previously recommended about 60 minutes decant, but I would say it needs more (detail to follow)

Still has years ahead of it. 91-92 with positive prospect now

  • 2001 Karl Lawrence Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Herb Lamb

    USA, California, Napa Valley

Tasted from a mag at Berserkers offline PDH. Very dark color, longer finish than I expected. Tannins issues (if existed in previous years) are certainly resolved. Good balance of fruit and earthy tastes. I wish I had more notes, but it was a very long evening with great line up of wines.
I would say it was ~93-94. No rush to drink :-)

  • 2007 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc La Crau

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Very good blanc CdP in an offline of Berserkers. Had it also two days later. It is drinking very well now and it is drinking above its price range. Would not go as far as 98 pts, certainly drinks better than current CT avg (91.3 at time of typing). Can't give a ranking with limited notes. Requires some decanting for the nose to open. Enjoyable

  • 1999 Prosper Maufoux Montagny Blanc

    France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Montagny

Brought it to offline at PDH Berserkers. It held very well against several other respected Burgs. Great, great nose. Very much on the citrus and flowery smell. The "level of the bottle test" was actually pretty good- The bottle was one of four on the table that was empty at the end of the evening. Needs to be chilled, decant about 30 minutes for max nose.
In good storage, still has years ahead. Surprisingly excellent qpr. Next one will be opened in few months and then I'd give the remaining few years to see the change.

(No grade but would have been 91-92)

  • 1992 Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon The Montelena Estate

    USA, California, Napa Valley

Tasted it at PDH Berserkers offline. A good example of the Montelena line from the late 80's early 90's (more of a 'classic' taste vs the 'new world' taste of newer vintages). It was not about the score, it was about the company we had the pleasure to taste it with. That said, it would have scored 94 or so either way :-) (Just did not have a chance to taste it enough to have more detailed notes). Would be great to revisit in a vertical. Disagree regarding drinking window. In good storage, it has easily another decade.

  • 2011 Congruence Cabernet Sauvignon

    USA, California, Napa Valley

It would not have tasted it so young but when Steve serves, would you say no? It is a classic continuum of the congruence wine that has years ahead of it to enjoy. If you do open now, decant for a while. Very enjoyable (that said, the '08 is so enjoyable now I would just leave this one aside for now)
