Introduction

Despite the wines mentioned with dedicated tasting notes we also had a 1966 Chambertin Clos de Beze and a 1934 Cote de nuits no Name. Both wines still drinkable in a low 80 range.

Clear, light golden color. Clean, medium nose with fine yeast notes, full-flavored, some Brioche. Bone dry, well integrated acidity, finest, long lasting mousseux, very long aftertaste. More spiciness, more pressure than the 2004 Brut. Very good Champagne with has years of development ahead.

  • 2009 Travaglini Il Sogno 92 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Vino da Tavola

    Glass: Schott Zwiesel Red Wine
This wine is quite special: an Amarone made of Nebiolo grapes. Travaglini also uses a very special bottle shape, which is hard to staple/store :)
Clear, ruby-garnet color. Clean intense and complex nose, clearly reminding of a good Amarone with rum pot fruits and some Alcohol. Dry, with high and very well integrated acidity (which comes from the Nebiolo) masking the high abv of 15,5%. Sweet, velvet high tannin, intese, lots of dried red fruit, rum pot, figs. Long finish. Beautiful wine with lots of potential for the next 5-10 years.

  • 2001 Château Smith Haut Lafitte 90 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

    Glass: Schott Zwiesel Red Wine
Clear, deep purple color. Quite intense fleshly (barnyard) notes in the nose which continues on the palate. Dry, fine and soft tannin, some fruit, medium intense and medium- length. I do not like the fleshly notes on the palate. This wine has clearly potential for another 5-10 years but it won’t improve much.

  • 1979 Château La Mission Haut-Brion 88 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

    Glass: Schott Zwiesel Red Wine
    Served from a mid-shoulder bottle.
Clear, impressive medium deep purple color. Clean nose, with menthol notes. Dry, intense acidity, a bit drying out tannin, medium intense on the palate and medium length. Not that appealing to drink solo but goes well with food. Drink up, it won’t improve.

  • 2003 Bodegas Alejandro Fernández Ribera del Duero Reserva Especial Pesquera 93 Points

Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero

    Glass: Schott Zwiesel Red Wine
Deep, ruby, purple color. Clean intense, beautiful nose with lots of red fruits and licorice. Dry with lots of sweetness from extract, good acidity, lots of fine grained tannin, power on the palate, intense with lot of complex aromas of fruits, spices, oak and smoke. Has great potential and will continue to develop for the next 5-10 years.

  • 2005 Rockford Shiraz SVS Hoffmann 93 Points

Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley

    Glass: Schott Zwiesel Red Wine
Unfortunately decanted a bit too long (about 3h) and the wine was a bit too warm (around 22 degrees).
Clean, medium purple color. Beautiful intense aussie Shiraz nose. Dry, high, well integrated acidity which makes this wine quite elegant. All that you can ever wish from a great aussie Shiraz: Lots of dark fruit, spices, oak, smoke. Intese and very long. It has a potential for the next decade or more. Usually a 95+ wine, but this time a bit to alcoholic due to the high serving temperature.

  • 2003 Zilliken (Forstmeister Geltz) Saarburger Rausch Riesling Spätlese 90 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

    Glass: Schott Zwiesel Red Wine
Clear, medium golden color. Medium intense nose with lots of petrol. Off-dry, not too sweet, quite a lot of acidity which is very untypical for this hot vintage. Lacks a bit of power on the mid palate, medium intense, medium length. It will stay on this level for several more years but it won’t improve.

A bit dull, amber color. Wonderful intense nose with lots of acacia honey. Sweet, balanced by still present acidity. Honey, acacia, spices. Intense and medium finish. Wonderful experience. Drink up, it won’t improve.
