The wine looks purple colored. It smells like medium toast, blackberry, black currant (cassis) and garrigue. It tastes like blackberry and tart cherry. The body is light/medium. The wine has angular texture. The wine has medium acidity.
The wine looks brick colored. Smells old world with terpins. Spicy palate, slightly dry, mild fruit, sandelwood, and leather. Middle of the road and a bit tired, lacking fruit in the second half. Very poor value.
Good clarity and brightness in the glass. Reserved nose with light Woody notes. Light cherry flavor, light toast resolved tannins and ready for business now. Long finish but in the light body style, gentle. Nice.
Very solid Barbie for $30. Lots of tobacco, tar, bramble, dark cherry, and fine tannins. Should improve over the next 5 years. Surprisingly approachable at this young age. Had to pick up a couple after tasting.
Clean and bright color. Fruit forward new world style. Vanilla is significant with lots of spice, prickly tannins, and a leather note. Medium plus finish. Kind of steep at over $100... Much better Sangiovese for 1/2 the price.
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
Deep maroon color. Nose was old sneaker. Monster oak program with this wine. Wood, vanilla, coconut, chambord, and very rich. As new world as they come. Agressive tannins and huge intensity. If you own it, wait 10 years and hope the oak integrates. If you don't own, you're lucky. Universal thumbs down by all four of us. Horrible QPR, maybe the worst.
Very dark color. Taste like a Bordeaux blend and still very young. Black and red currant fruit flavors with pine residue. This needs cellar time and the oak to integrate. Hold.
Italy, Veneto, Valpolicella, Amarone della Valpolicella Classico
Two significant observations stand out here. First, it doesn't taste like a typical amarone. Where's the heavy weight, sweet, and overtly ripe fruit? Not here. No raisin or prune flavors. Nice wine but the $70 tariff is a problem.
Quick taste of this at the end of the night. The color stands out as there's incredible intensity. Big flavors of smoke, oak, dark black fruit. Lots of flavor and concentration. I'll like to taste it in 5 years and see where it's heading.

2011 Firriato Nero d'Avola Sicilia Harmonium

Not your typical Nero, I kept think this taste like Zinfandel from a high quality California producer. It's delicious with lush fruit. Excellent.
