bit of a blast from the past. One of the guys from my course is now the host. I think I'll attend again.
Bit of a mixed bag…a bit of a lesson. I think I prefer Hugel as a producer.
Lots of wine making on show. Especially in the first two reds. I kind of like that white.
yeah, nah. Nothing quite hit the groove here for me.
Lots of well made and pleasant wines but nothing with that 'wow' factor that makes me want to reach into the moth ridden confines of the wallet. The John Duvals were surprising; I rather enjoyed their well made, polished quality on this occasion - mind you that could change tomorrow...
2013 Trimbach Pinot Blanc
France, Alsace
Muted stone fruit & melon, slight wet stone, with time a touch of almond on the nose. In the mouth the wine has more melon flavours and a touch of bitterness encroaching on the palate and spice joining on the medium plus length. Okay but a bit meh for me.

2012 Trimbach Pinot Gris Reserve
France, Alsace
Very slight oxidation, peachy fruit, quite muted, touches of kumquat and meat on agitation and, again, a touch of almond. In the mouth the wine is quite broad, fruity and drying with a touch of bitterness but quite juicy and tangy. Hmm

2013 Trimbach Riesling
France, Alsace
Already slight kerosene, lime over lemon, slight gun powder and flint. In the mouth it's tart with flavours of lime and slight green notes, tangy then a little palate breadth. Finishes short

2012 Trimbach Riesling Reserve
France, Alsace
Kerosene> quite pungent, closed…with agitation lime and lemon and green apple. In the mouth the wine is juicy and tangy, a citrus and green apple medley, a little bit of gum grip, long…very pleasant, well balanced…it's quite nice. Has potential.

2009 Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile
France, Alsace
slight oxidised, wet stone and slight earth, quite savoury…very slight cream and peach but not really about fruit I think. In the mouth the wine is juicy and tangy (again) but rich and broad, quote honeyed; no bitterness here. Do I like it? Hmm. I honestly don't know.

2008 Trimbach Gewurztraminer Cuvée des Seigneurs de Ribeaupierre
France, Alsace
Oh, here we go…Typicity on the nose…rose petal, lychee, spice and Turkish delight. But, also something almost like almond essence or nail polish remover as well - not a fault but an added level of complexity. In the mouth it's off dry to dry - 8g residual sugar apparently. Rose and lychee, slight bitterness then honey on the end of the palate as well as Turkish delight but hmm for me. It lacks a little breadth and glycerol but the flavours and acid, sweetness & balance are spot on.
