Introduction

I was fortunate to join Team NY (plus Team Nashville) for another round at Alto in NY on Monday. Service and food were superb, with somm Eric Zillier and team handling this "hard to handle" group with ease. Attending were Ray Tuppatsch, Bruce Fingeret, Tom Black, Missy Harris, Eddie Milstein, Peter Joseph, Joe Thornton, Josh Wertlieb, and Brad England. I took very sketchy notes, but here they are.

Flight 1 - Flight 1 - In the bar. (1 Note)

  • 1928 Château Mouton Rothschild

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

We started with a blind bottle at the bar, courtesy of Eddie. We guessed which decade - I picked the 40's, and if pressed was planning to guess 45 Mouton. Really an exquisite bottle of old bordeaux. Outstanding nose, and while showing an aged profile, it was simply perfect provenance. Nice way to start the evening.

Flight 2 - Flight 2 (3 Notes)

We all brought wines, but Bruce and Ray, who along with Big Boy are trying to corner the world's champagne market, contributed the bulk of the champagne (I think). Three amazing flights - thank you guys!

Flight 3 - Flight 3 (3 Notes)

Flight 4 - Flight 4 (3 Notes)

Flight 5 - Flight 5 (5 Notes)

Flight 6 - Flight 6 (2 Notes)

Flight 7 - Flight 7 (5 Notes)

Flight 8 - Flight 8 (1 Note)

Flight 9 - Flight 9 (1 Note)

Closing

A great night of wine, a great group, and a stellar effort by Team Alto. Lots of fun. Bravo.
