Introduction

Celebrating friends BDays in April as well as my anniversary with my Wife by splurging in Vegas on some food and wine!

Flight 1 - Otto/B&B (5 Notes)

  • 2002 Louis Jadot Bâtard-Montrachet 93 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru

    (4/14/2017)

Nose showing a beautiful mix of myer lemon and butterscotch. Palate had good acidity and a very mineral driven profile. Although oak is very apparent on the nose it is more restrained on the palate. Nice balance, myer lemon, chalk minerality and a very creamy smooth texture.

  • 1996 Tenuta San Leonardo San Leonardo 91 Points

Italy, Trentino-Alto Adige, Trentino, Vallagarina IGT

    (4/13/2017)

Real presance for its age. Good structure, decently grippy tannin. Nose had roasted peppers, white pepper, dusty dark fruit. Palate was moderately complex, good mineral presance and good acidity. Not an overly thrilling wine but enjoyable. Restaurant purchase in Vegas so QpR for me was not very good.

  • NV Jacques Selosse Initial 95 Points

    France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

    (4/14/2017)

Just outright amazing champagne. Jeremy Holmes note really nails it for me. Some oxidative character but very fresh and great concentration of flavor.

  • 2009 Domaine Leroy Vosne-Romanée Les Genaivrières 96 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée

    (4/14/2017)

Very powerful nose, really a lot going on here, gamey red fruit, some floral undertones, still very youthful. Palate shows great complexity, precision and balance. This was a real treat and very much enjoyed, would love to see the development with some more time in the cellar. 96+

  • 2012 Roses de Jeanne / Cédric Bouchard Champagne Rosé de Saignée Creux d'Enfer 94 Points

    France, Champagne

    (4/14/2017)

Cranberry is a dominant player throughout, this was much more concentrated than the last bottle (different vintage) and had a very focused red fruit/mineral palate. Fine and energetic bead, lively on the tounge.

Flight 2 - Lotus of Siam (2 Notes)

Thai food and Riesling for lunch

Flight 3 - Jose Andres Bazzarr Meats (8 Notes)

  • 2000 Faiveley Echezeaux 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru

    (4/15/2017)

90-91 This wasn't what I was hoping for in this bottle. Not bad, just didn't hit the mark for me. Big and dense fruit, fairly big tannin and more emphasis on power than finesse. Holding up ok but wouldn't hold too much longer. For me, not a good QpR wine.

  • 1988 Château Haut-Brion 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

    (4/15/2017)

Very mature, fades relatively quick. We did a short decant at the beginning but was shared so consumed rather quick. Classic aged Bordeaux nose, leather, pencil shavings, and cassis. Palate was balanced, fully resolved tannin and very silky smooth texture.

  • 2002 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut 96 Points

    France, Champagne

    (4/15/2017)

More or less same as previous bottle in November, showed great at dinner. Side by side with the '95 Krug

  • 2004 François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 95 Points

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru

    (4/15/2017)

This showed very well, only scored at dinner so no formal note, but from memory still had plenty of life, great acidity and lots of minerality.

  • 2010 Terroir Al Limit Soc. Lda. Priorat Les Tosses 92 Points

    Big fruit, ripe, nice balance

  • 1996 Broadbent Madeira Colheita 92 Points

    Portugal, Madeira

    (4/15/2017)

Score is mostly a reference point for me since I have very limited Madeira experience. Very nutty and caramel nose, reminded me of an oloroso sherry (But similarity ends there). Palate had a nice sweetness balanced by very good acidity. Nice weight and nice end to the evening.

  • 1996 Franco Conterno Barolo Bussia Munie 93 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

    (4/15/2017)

Showing really well. This was decanted at the start of dinner and continued to open in the glass. Nice spice and floral notes, a little dried rose petal and very nice acidity. Better with food.

  • 1995 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut Flawed

    France, Champagne

    (4/15/2017)

Unfortunately this was slightly oxidized w/ possible heat damage. Drinkable but not what this should have been. Overly acidic, dull, and oxidative notes on the nose. May have been worse that it was side by side w/ the '02 which was incredibly youthful and vibrant.
