We knew the theme, but all wines were tasted fully blind.

• 2015 Misty Cove Pinot Noir 83 Points

  New Zealand, South Island, Marlborough

  Very transparent light red. In the not so very expressive bouquet there are red berry fruits. On the palate red fruits like strawberries, some green herbs, firm acidity and hardly any tannin. Clean wine.

  In the bouquet a lot of fresh cherries. On the palate fresh cherry juice and dark berries as well, a bit spicy, soft bitterness, mild acidity and the tannin has a pleasant bite. The alcohol shows a bit.

  Germany, Pfalz

  Cherries, red berries and black tea in the bouquet. On the palate creamy red juice; cherries and raspberries. Some herbs and spices and a firm amount of bitterness. No score because we wondered if the wine was completely fresh (although it was drinkable.)

  The bouquet is not very expressive, but shows dark berries and cherries, yoghurt and green herbs. On the palate very fruity and juicy. Some chocolate and a pleasant balance between acidity and sweetness. Mild tannin.

  In the bouquet dark berries and herbs. On the palate a sweet start of ripe dark berries, cherries and plums. Some bell pepper, white pepper and black olives. Overall a mild, supple and round wine with pleasant acidity and a touch of oak.
