Lemon, lemon curd and some freshly cut grass. Nicely rich fruit throughout stands up to very bright acidity. Good now, this will certainly last for years.
Lots of ripe stone fruit with a marzipan hint. Very good richness and concentration, moderate structure and finesse. Probably best to enjoy on the younger side.
USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
Black cherry and plum with black and white pepper and allspice. Still nicely fresh and powerful. Still showing wonderful "Côte-Rôtie" character. Best showing for this wine for the last 3-4 years.
Black plum and black cherry with slightly sweet spice and really wonderful harmony. Fresh and bright with the structure just slightly in the background. Very good concentration and length. Wonderful right now, no rush to drink up.
Roasted meat with black cherry and berry in front of some licorice. Had an elegant Northern Rhone character with a long finish. Seemed younger than a 2010 Cali, and this has upside from here.
Rich and ripe black currant and cherry with some liqueur hints. Great spice is mostly sweet with mostly integrated new oak. Much more balanced and integrated vs when last tried in 2015, this will still most certainly get better as it softens further.

Surprisingly advanced for the vintage. Oxidized or heat damaged? A real disappointment.

You wouldn't expect 20 yo Villages wine from this vintage to still be drinking well. You'd be right.

Completely off balance and out-of-center. Acidity very pronounced. Was there a hint of VA?

Massive wine in almost all respects. Ripe, powerful, jammy with sweet and oaky spice. But not particularly elegant or balanced.

Ripe and extremely fun with intriguing spice, just too jammy, sweet and precocious for now.
