Fun times with friends old and new, a few mixed wines, a few blinded.
Spicy and floral on the nose. Dusty, tangy, spicy, some nice funky elements. Fun stuff.

Whoa, I tasted this on release and quite cool to revisit eight years later. Deep, rich nose. Still structured well, with time ahead. Lovely black cherries, plums, with earth, smoke, violets, some mushroom. The concentration is still there, and this has more to show.

Tasted blind. No one from the group guessed Beaujolais. Ah well. Spicy pepper, sage, earth, soy on the nose, lots of leather and earth and some sour cherries. Grippy still, high acidity, with bright cherries laced in pepper, smoke, tar, spice, leather. Still quite young and capable of more development in the cellar.

Tasted blind, guessed the producer and wine but thought it was an older vintage. Loving the nose: pepper, herbs, jerky, bell pepper, leather, all on top of black cherries. Nice grip to the tannins, bright acidity, lovely depth but also lots of freshness. Earthy, savory, dusty, smoky, barbecue pit, on top of black cherry goodness. Gorgeous but lots of time ahead.

This showed quite well. Nose has a lot of spicy herbs, tart cherries, sage, soy. Moderate tannins, medium+ acidity, with lots of smoky herbs, pepper, menthol. A really spicy and tangy wine that is likely nearing the end of its run.

Deep but gorgeous nose, gobs of cherries topped in smoke, pepper, sage, earth. Aged well, this is bright and lively with pepper, smoke, fennel, scorched earth.

This has evolved wonderfully since I last tasted this five years ago. Deep but tart cherries on the nose with roses, pepper, green and black olives. Still young, a lot of tannins still, but zesty acidity keeps this so lively. Pretty cherries topped in tons of flowers, herbs, olives, black pepper, earth. Tangy, vibrant, I was surprised at how expressive this was. I still think its best days are maybe in the coming years.

So earthy and savory, or straight-up stinky if you're not a fan, with pepper, sage, earth, smoky leather jacket. Crunchy on the palate with mulled cherries and plums, along with hefty doses of earth, smoke, pepper, soy, sage, earth. Tired, but still funky and fun.

Gorgeous, lovely depth. Deep apples and honey and biscuits on the nose. Rich texture, deep and woven together well with almonds and honey, but brisk minerals and chalk as well.

The group tasted this blind, and we were a bit confused. Some went Chenin, I half-assedly tossed out Chablis, knowing it to be wrong. The wine had a bit of oxidation, with sea salt, limes, crushed sweet tart candies. Zippy and brisk on the palate with saline, honeycomb, honey, some briny notes. Still lively. Really enjoyed how well this showed.
