Aged Cab Franc. Vegetal notes on nose and palate let you know what this varietal is. Transparent red in the glass. Tannin is tamed , but time has taken away most of the fruit. Smooth, elegant, and well balanced, but I prefer the vibrancy of youth.

Tasting at Maine Cabin: Complex aromas of green and black olives, with roasted red pepper, black pepper, tobacco, tones of leather, mushroom glaze. The palate shows dusty tannins and lively acidity, with flavors of red cherries, raspberries, red currants, laced with saucy, savory, brothy tones. A lot going on, such an elegant mouthfeel. Loving how expressive and vibrant and spicy this wine showed.

Smells of fresh earth and green leaves - like a greenhouse with some tobacco and graphite thrown in. Not a lot of fruit left, and a lot less bell pepper than others have commented on. But the texture is out of this world: light and fresh. Score: 91. Relative to expectations: ++

A nice wine. A bit linear and somewhat narrow on the palate. Has a nice nose of tobacco leaf. Nice length on the finish too, despite the rather lean fruit on the palate. Crunchy bright acidity.

(Olga Raffault Chinon Les Picasses) Slightly bricking medium dark red violet color; maturing Cab Franc, tart, herbaceous red fruit, tobacco leaf nose; tasty, silky textured, medium bodied, tart currant, herbaceous palate; medium-plus finish 92+ points
(Olga Raffault Chinon Les Picasses) This is just drinking so well now. Horsey, barnyardy aromas with some austere cherry fruit. The palate was soft and elegant with focused berry fruit and just a wonderful serentiy. So elegant. Lovely lovely wine.

A very good bottle that was flavorful and intricate. Lighter bodied and my only quibble was pronounced acidity that threw the balance off.
